There are many great Charleston Events held year round. To get yourself in the spirit of Halloween check out the Charleston Event, rUNdead 5k race. The race is held on October 27th. You must be at least 14 years old to participate in the race. Runners will line up at the starting line at 4:40p.m, while Zombies will be ready to take off at 4:45p.m. This a different and exciting race that is for a great cause. Throughout the course there will be many man-made obstacles. Most of these obstacles must be completed by climbing, jumping, crawling, or bounding. No matter how hard the obstacle is don’t skip it as your overall race with be affected with time penalties.
This is a fun race that will take over all of Charleston. Just as the sun begins to set, the race to survival will begin. This isn’t just a street race by any means. Throughout the course you will find your way through the woods, clearing, barns, and even some historical Charleston homes. While running the race you will have the chance to see Charleston’s Country Parks, including the newest park site, Old Towne Creek. As mentioned early there will be Zombies taking off shortly after the runners begin. The zombies will be found throughout the woods ready to chase the runners and remove their flags received at the beginning of the race.
Overall this is a great race that will leave many great memories, but don’t forget it is also for a great cause. It is helping the Charleston community who is fighting for survival on a daily basis just to eat. Participants and guests are asked to help and bring canned goods and non-perishables. LCFB’s mission is to feed the poor and hungry of all ten coastal counties in South Carolina. During and after the race enjoy live entertainment, music, vendors, food, costume contests, and beer. If you plan on joining in the 5k race and need somewhere to stay check out Andrew Pinckney Inn located in Historic Charleston.
