The Jenkins Orphanage and Palmetto Primary Care Physicans have partnered for the First Annual Roots of Jazz Music Festival in downtown Charleston. The festival is being held on Saturday, April 13th from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. It will be an all day music extravaganza featuring tons of local Charleston Jazz Musicians. Musicians slated to perform thus far include Lonnie Hamilton, Jazzie Jay, Oscar Rivers, High Gravity Jazz, Charleston Singleton, and many more. There will also be performances by several local middle school and high school bands. Tastings from several Charleston restaurants will be available. The event is being held at the Jenkins Institute for Children and all proceeds will go to benefit their charitable cause. Make sure to bring a blanket or chair as the concert will be going on outside by the water. Tickets to the even at eight dollars in advanced and ten dollars at the door and can be bought at Cats Music in Summerville or Monster Music in West Ashley.
