Historic Charleston Attraction

Charleston, South Carolina is one of the most historic areas in all of South Carolina.  There are many Historic Charleston Attractions and gorgeous Historic Charleston Hotels.  Andrew Pinckney Inn is a boutique hotel that is surrounded by 300 years of history.  The Inn overlooks the heart of the historic district, many historic homes, and the bustling Charleston harbor.  With Charleston being all about exploring the history, many guests will want to know about the best attractions in the area.  There are many house museums to visit and see, but the most popular is the Edmondston-Alston House which has a terrific view of the Charleston Harbor.

The Edmondston-Alston House was constructed in 1825 and then enhanced in 1838.  There are many historical facts that go along with the home.  On April 12th, 1861 General P.T. Beauregard watched the bombardment of Ft. Sumter from the piazza, which was the start of the Civil War.  In that same year on December 11th, refuge was given to General Robert E. Lee when a wide-spreading fire threatened his safety in a Charleston hotel.  Today there are tours given of this historic home with many pieces from the past.  There are many pieces that belonged to the family, which not only tells us about the family, but also the American History.  While taking the tour expect to see portraits, mirrors, dining room tables, and gas lights.

The guided tour is 30 minutes long.  The tour focuses on the home’s public rooms and piazzas.  There is a special focus on its Federal and Greek Revival design.  Also another main focus is the collection of family silver, amazing arts, and furniture.  Be sure to ask an employee at Andrew Pinckney Inn about tour times, days, and any other questions you may have.  You won’t want to miss out on this Historic Charleston Attraction!
