Charleston is home to some beautiful architecture and history but some amazing wildlife also calls the area home. One of the best things to do in Charleston SC is to check out one of the great nature tours in the area. Try one of these fun tours next time you are in the area.
Sandlapper Guided Nature Tour- Explore the tidelands area of Charleston with this fun tour on a 45-foot catamaran. The ship only holds fifty people, so everyone on the tour will get a great view with the opportunity to ask plenty of questions. The boat will leave Charleston and venture out to Morris Island with the opportunity to see dolphins, herons, pelicans, seagulls, turtles and more along the way. The boat will stop on Morris Island for passengers to explore the island looking for seashells and wildlife. Patrons will also have the chance to touch live sea life at the boat’s touch tank or pull up crab pots along the way. This fun tour lasts two hours, costs $32 and is held Tuesday- Friday at 2 p.m. with special Saturday tours at 9 a.m.
Birds of Prey Tour- Just outside of the Charleston area is the Center for Birds of Prey, a medical center for birds. The center houses more than 30 different types of birds and is open to the public Thursday- Saturday. They offer tours at 10:30 and 2 p.m. but a tour ticket gets visitors admission to the grounds where they offer flight demonstrations, exhibits, and an owl woods- full of fun owls hanging around day and night. Children and adults can enjoy watching these majestic birds take flight, and hunting at the center. Tickets cost just $12 per person.
