Want to see some amazing sailing going on in Charleston Harbor? Stay at a boutique Charleston hotel for the 2013 Charleston Race Week! Race week is a Charleston tradition spanning back over fifteen years. Hosted by Sperry-Top Siders, hundreds of boats from around the country descend on Charleston Harbor for four days of racing. Over 200 boats have already entered this year’s competition and more are expected before registration cuts off. This year’s events are taking place from April 18th-21st and events start as early as 8:30 in the morning. There will be multiple races both in and off shore and for the different sized boats. For those who aren’t interested in boating but just want to watch and have a good time, there are nightly beach parties with live music, beer bar and plenty of Gosling’s Rum, which sponsors the events. Last year around 260 gallons of rum were consumed during the events, almost an entire barrel per boat. Make sure if you want to attend or participate to register and get your tickets soon as this huge event is bound to sell out.
